Borat

 Borat

What a fricken' hilarious movie. Where did Borat come from? I know of Sacha Baron Cohen, and his other alter ego Ali G, but I wasn't familiar with Borat, the most famous journalist in all Kazakhstan.

I'd read the reviews, I'd seen the trailers, I heard the buzz and when Borat himself came to Australia for a promotional tour, I thought, this movie might be worth seeing. I went in on a late afternoon, and the theatre was populated mainly by teenage boys who would laugh at every little thing Borat did. I laughed along with them, and really enjoyed myself.

Borat's escapades are both shocking, embarrassing and down right ugly. He pokes a lot at the Jewish peoples, but in real life is Jewish himself so it's kind of funny. The skits and situations were original and surprising. One scene in particular, which I won't ruin here, had me and the entire theatre in stitches. For those of you who have seen this film, I'm talking about the wrestle in the hotel room - pure comedy!

There's not much else to say about this film except it's got to be the funniest and most original comedy of the year, if not the past several years. I hear a sequel is in the works, which might work but if it's just done in a hurry to cash in on the success of the first one, well we know what happens then don't we?

As Borat would say "You come see my movie film. If not, I be execute!!!"
